The Grand Hotel Birmingham
Birmingham’s Grand Hotel on Colmore Row is housed in one of the city’s most iconic buildings.
This landmark Grade II* listed building has been brought back to life combining beautifully restored classic and original Victorian features with modern service and style that compliments a vibrant and diverse Birmingham in the 21st century.
The Grand Hotel features 185 bedrooms and extraordinary suites, a glamorous cocktail bar, a buzzing New York style restaurant, and eight magnificent meeting and event rooms - as well as the spectacular, Louis XIV-style Grand Ballroom.
Night Porter / Night Receptionist
At The Grand Hotel Birmingham, we know that exceptional hospitality never sleeps.
Join our team as a Night Porter / Night Receptionist and you’ll be at the heart of our overnight guest experience, ensuring every guest feels welcomed, valued and cared for throughout their stay. Whether you’re welcoming a late arrival, responding to a guest request or helping to keep the hotel safe and secure, you’ll take pride in delivering thoughtful, personal service—whatever the hour.
This is a full-time role working 40 hours per week over four nights, including weekdays and weekends. Typical shifts are 8.00pm–6.30am or 10.00pm–8.00am, so flexibility to work overnight between 8.00pm and 8.00am is essential.
What you’ll be doing
- Providing a warm, professional welcome and checking guests in and out efficiently
- Responding confidently to guest enquiries and offering recommendations about the hotel and local area
- Resolving guest requests and concerns with professionalism, empathy and attention to detail
- Delivering overnight room service and supporting other departments with late-night operations and functions
- Helping to maintain a safe and secure environment for our guests, colleagues and hotel throughout the night
What we’re looking for
- Previous customer service experience, ideally within hospitality or a guest-facing environment
- A warm, friendly and approachable manner, with clear and confident communication skills
- The ability to remain calm, organised and solutions-focused while managing a variety of guest requests
- Good IT skills; experience using Opera PMS would be advantageous but isn’t essential
- Flexibility to work overnight shifts across weekdays and weekends
